What benefits are there to compulsory voting ?
- People tend to inform themselves more on the political narrative knowing that at any time they can be called to vote
- Extremist influence is diluted, as the greater percentage of population have their voice recorded.
- It is our responsibility to vote, we are each affected by the results of an election, our view should be represented.
- Generally young people vote less than the older demographic, yet the decisions made affect the former for longer. Making everyone vote would provide better representation across the population
It doesn’t overcome the apathy,
Nor the unfairness of our current UK electoral system
