Amphibia

Frogs, toads, Newts

Like all our vulnerable species around us, it is a very good idea to record any frogs, toads or newts you see – the app Inaturalist lets you upload your photograph, helps you identify what you saw, log its location, and feeds into regional, national and global records of distribution.
(here at Kintaline I have recorded some, but could do a lot better – if anyone wants to join in recording species here, you are very welcome –

Amphibian FAQs

March is when we see the masses of amphibia spawn in our ponds – it is a sign of good water and ecology health.

NEVER buy wild caught spawn to bring in to your pond or for kids to watch
The sale of wild-caught spawn or tadpoles is an offence under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
