KINTALINE FARM PLANT AND POULTRY CENTRE Benderloch by OBAN Argyll PA37 1QS Scotland
2010 is a year for re-evaluating all our values and working to improve our personal sustainability, there has never been a better time to get our gardens working harder for ourselves, growing our own food: meat and eggs, recycling more, breeding more useful types of birds, and helping each other.
Our websites are full of experienced advice, from decades of breeding and rearing and eating, and well researched, reliable, state of the art products for the domestic environment.
We look forward to helping you get more out of your garden or smallholding, and your birds, for a fulfilling 2010.
PLEASE read our CONTACT US page for our opening times.
We are very busy outside these days so, sometimes, the office is not manned.
Please email any queries about purchasing and we will get back in touch with you as soon as we can.

SPRING OPENING 2010

We are open here at Kintaline Plant and Poultry Centre from 10 am daily, 7 days a week, except in very rare emergencies.
The poultry and waterfowl park is still closed as we have much work still to do as its been frozen all winter. The shop, feed store and plant centre are open as usual.
We still have a lot of work to do around the farm this year, so please email or phone if you are making a special trip to pick our brains.
We are very happy to talk to you about what you need to set up or expand your poultry and waterfowl keeping, based on many decades of experience, of all scales, and understanding the needs of the birds in all parts of the country.

We now host the Local Producers Market every First and Third Thursday of the month from March to November (December fayres are in the village hall), you are very welcome, but its not a day we can give you lots of time to talk about your personal needs. Dates are here.

Directions to find us

We have very full days with our birds and plants outside, guests and customers visiting the farm, as well as email and phone customers, so we can sometimes be difficult to get hold of by phone immediately.
Please with your daytime and evening telephone numbers if you are having difficulties. We will return your call as soon as we can. The computer is always on, and email is checked many times during the day.

If you do not live close enough to visit us in person here is what and where we can supply - please read carefully and consider our location with respect to yours. It is a waste of your time to contact us about items we cannot supply to you.

  • Shop : The shop is stocked with our own free range eggs, wild bird food, equipment, books, fleeces, sheepskins, and seasonally we have lamb and mutton for sale.
  • Birds : We only supply birds to people who can collect from the farm.
We do not deliver. There are no national carriers covering the country from this part of the world.
We do not export to anywhere, which includes Northern Ireland.
To find other breeders around the country use the breed clubs, local feed stores, vets, poultry magazines, commercial dealers.
We are curtailing our breeding programme now, so are not taking any bookings for any of the pure breeds. We will be raising small batches of Black Rocks through the year, but book early as we are the only ones to free range rear so our birds are much in demand. Its very uncommon to have birds just available.
It is very bad free range breeding practise to hatch in the autumn and winter so we would never have point of lay pure breeds in the spring.
The commercial parent birds are kept indoors for biosecurity reasons, hence why they are hatching all year around.
  • Hatching Eggs : We are not sending hatching eggs out, and will have none here at the farm. We do not export to anywhere.
  • Housing : All our housing is delivered throughout mainland UK, including Scotland, and the local Islands:e.g. Man, Wight, Hebrides.
We can have a few ex display houses here at the farm, check the link for range and prices.
For any other off shore locations we can deliver to any mainland shipping company for you to arrange onward carriage.
We have no plans of any housing for sale.
  • Electric Fencing : The fencing and kits are delivered by carrier throughout the UK, some surchages may apply to certain island destinations, and all of Ireland. For other locations contact us for details.
  • Books and videos :We can post our books and DVD's out to anywhere, but the charges shown only apply to normal UK postal areas. Anywhere else is at costs incurred.
  • Smallholder and Poultry Equipment : All the feeders, drinkers and other equipment are all posted as well, and the same applies as for the Books. We do not surcharge Scottish customers on carriage.
  • Plants and Composts : We do not mail order plants or gardening supplies at all.
We have a wonderful range of rhodies, perennials, and, especially, an amazing selection of herbs.
For locals wanting to improve their soil we have very good well rotted manure, which we can by the bag or by the trailer. Drop in and discuss your needs.
